Olwyn trained in Ceramics in London, at Central School of Art and Design, and then became a design teacher. Eventualy dissolusioned with teaching, she became an IT Helpdesk manager and then a full time mother, finally returning to her first love as a potter.
Olwyn prefers to work mainly in porcelain, as although this is an unpredictable medium she finds it smoothness responds well to her carved decoration, allowing her to achieve the results she likes. Pieces are initially constructed from the raw clay, left to harden slightly and are then intricately carved before being painted and then fired. Finally some of them are polished, whilst others are glazed or both polished and glazed before being fired again.
Olwyn draws her inspiration from a variety of sources including floral forms the countryside and architecture.
